General Discussion / Re: Talk to Me!

I think the same about actual radio, it is too much sporting DX competition and a little human, is this aspect of the radio that I calls me, the human contact and the technical gear, of course.

If you hear a pile-up for qso with a dx station, you can see the inhumans ways to splash qrp or tinny stations.

Radio is comunicate and discover people through the meeting on the air.

One of my bests friends meet him in the CB with 15 years old.

Actually, Past 27 years, we talk two times week in 7 mhz (we live at 600 kms).

This is radio amateur, not sporting DX.

Many thanks Gil for this amazing article.

Note: I know this is a old post but I 'd like write something about it.

I keep the idea of 18650 cells and the pack to get 12v, with Nitecore USB chargers (perfect fro my Ravpower folding solar panel). Thanks Gil!

I use to power my Ft-817 ND Lipo 11.1 3c 5000mAh, charging with a Imax B6 balanced charged.

To keep safe lipo battery use this display with buzzer that sounds if the cells down below 3v:

Lipo works fine, however had a issues like explosion risk or simply too short life, but the first issue is that I can´t charge it with a solar pannel, however the 18650 can.

Gil, thanks for share this analyzer, perhaps this model is more cheaper than Sark100 (box increase the price, I supose)and both are the same device, more or less.

I bought a Sark100 past month but I afraid the parcel is lost...

We live in a great moment to buy chinese rigs and electronic gadgets very very cheaps, when I started with radio in 1992 the gear was very expensive.

Antennas / Delta loop home made for 50 mhz
June 03, 2017, 08:32:32 AM
I want to share with everyone this antenna that I made past week, tired of no good signals in 6 m band.

The antenna cost  3-4 euros, no more, and I expend about 1 hour to built it.

The antenna in my habitual place.

This is the original idea that I copy to make it.

The item is basically a 6.10cms triangle of wire (I use a 1.5mm but with 1mm is enought).
To tunning the antenna we can use a unun or use a bit of 75 ohms coax (tv coax cable standard), exactly a 99cms for 50 mhz.

This type of antennas have two problems, doesn´t work if have metal parts near and if We mount it at least 1/2 wave leght between the ground, in this case 6m band, minimun 3m between antenna and ground.

First of all, I mounted it into my flat and It was horrible, no rx and a ot of SWR...

I use the antenna without tunner, SWR is 1:1 in all the band, perfect, simple and good performance. All that I can heard, I can worked.

This is the results of my log in two hours.

The delta loop can works vertical or horizontal, if you fit the apex up and corner feed is a vertical polarization.
Here you are the scheme about polarization:

Hi Gil and all the members of this forum.
I am 41 years old and I have my ham licence from 1993 (I was 17 yo). I come from Spain.

Sorry for my poor English, I 'll try to explain as better has possible.

I discovered this forum throught radioprepper channel, I am glad to know anothers friends with the same interest about the priority to comms in a possible dissaster or SHFP.

I don't trust in the help of goverments, neither in his false information.

This comunity/forum allows me share my ideas of radio lightweight/portable etc to get at this hobby became a important tool for SHFP.

I hope we can learn more all together and make a net to share info and knowlegde.

thanks for show us!
I know a EA3GCY and his kits. Past year I bought the Ilertenna, a tunner for 15-40m for end fed antennas.

http://www.ebay.es/itm/QRP-EndFed-Antenna-Tuner-HF-40-15m-30-10m-modified-KIT-all-parts-included-/302331147785?hash=item4664573609:g:hcEAAOSwoydWnNPI

Works perfect and very lightweight, with or without counterpoise.
