Title: Ham Radio Dictionary?
Post by: Sunflower on September 03, 2012, 11:21:38 AM
Is there a dictionary of acroymns? In reading the posts, I have discovering many groups of letters ;D.

Is there a link you would recommend?

On SurvivalBlog there have such a list that I reference often. Just asking, not complaining.

Very new from Kansas here.

Hello,

I would encourage posters to place the full wording of acronyms at least once per thread, in parenthesis... I don't always remember to do so myself, but it is good practice for newcomers. I will look for a dictionary module for the Simple Machines forum software...

Gil.

Good thought.  I am new to ham as well. Don't even have a license. But I am not new to prepping and have decided that having a ham radio and being able to use it would be a good idea. So, yes, a dictionary of anacronyms would be helpful for all us newbies1   8)

Here's a pretty good listing of ham radio terms - http://www.eham.net/newham/glossary (http://www.eham.net/newham/glossary). eham.net is a good source of information for anyone interested in radio.

Thanks.
VHF and UHF ? These are even covered on the Index. I will check out the other sections on the website as well. I have tried to find site like this in the past and never got this far. Great link.  It looks like I would need to signup with them to access more than just a few lists. At the moment, the computer is not allowing me to go further. I will try again later.

I think that link is going to help me bunches.
