Ouch I know I could never pay that amount in that time frame.
Then again I also know better than to be that dumb. >:D
What the article doesn't talk about is what was the dumba$$ broadcasting in the FM band and why.
I've never understood people like that, or the guy that got busted for, among other things using a 3KW transmitter. I mean, the 2:1 power difference from 1,5KW had to have been expensive but buys you less than half an S-unit and gets you in trouble.

I wonder how they could possibly find that out..? Probably opened his mouth or did something else. And I think anything above 25W is excessive... ::)

If I recall the story, he was committing all kinds of violations and when they finally tracked him down they found he was using a 3KW amp and added that to the charges.
QuoteThe FCC found sufficient evidence to establish that Rubash violated Section 301 of the Communications Act. Additionally, ?because Rubash is a licensed Extra class amateur operator, he presumably was aware (or should have been aware) that operation of the radio transmitter required a license. The foregoing facts indicate that Rubash consciously operated and/or otherwise was involved in the general conduct or management of the unauthorized station.
With great power comes great responsibility, and even greater penalties apparently.
Couldn't have happened to a more deserving jerk. Maybe the FCC will pull his amateur license too!
