Getting ready to put a rig in my Blazer. I'm going with a Yaesu Ft-857D and want to do a two antenna set up, something in the 2M 70cm range and something for 6M. Suggestions?

Plenty of good 2m/70cm choices out there. I've always had the best luck with Diamond antennae. For 6m, it's hard to beat a simple 1/4 wave whip. Just think of how cool that Blazer would look with a 6 foot whip on top of a full size stainless steel spring and ball mount!

Being a fan of Larsen antennas this is what I use on my FJ (https://www.google.com/search?q=fj+cruiser&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=1hbIUvy0AdHnkAfK6oHoBA&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=642):
2m/440MHz - NMO2/70
6M - NMOQ-52

These are both NMO mounted antennas so there are a large variety of mounts available. Larsen antennas are what you see on the majority of public safety vehicles. They are rugged and perform very well.

Oh, trust me, the full sized whip idea has crossed my mind several times.

A side mounted full size whip works great if you don't have a lot of metal car body parallel to it. The NMOQ-52 I mention above is also full 1/4 wave whip that can be roof mounted or fender mounted using an L-bracket. Lots of options! :)

I have a 6/2/440 antenna mounted on my Jeep, a Comet SB-14. It's a great antenna, performs wonderfully and didn't break the bank.

If you are going to do 6meter SSB, you will need a halo type antenna, as SSB is hor. polarized. For 6meter FM the Larson is hard to beat. For 20meter phone I would use a Hamstick. I hope this helps you, have fun.
