Title: Micoms, etc
Post by: w2db on May 18, 2013, 01:30:20 PM
Anybody in here playing with Motorola/Mobat Micom or Triton-HF rigs? Specifically looking to see if anybody has been working on Casey Crane's control head for the ton of Micom-2TS's that were on Ebay a year ago, great radios, trunk mount, no control heads, but were usually going for under $200 or so. The heads are available "new" but are almost $800 each. He had been working on a head that would be a new board dropped into a MCS-2000 control head (under $50 on Ebay)

I missed those bargains... any more of them around? Been looking at the Micoms for a while and didn't realize they were that cheap even without the head.

Rob, these guys bought a ton of them from (I'm told) State DEpt. They were all mobiles, but they left the control heads behind!! I got one for $150. There is external software to run on a PC that has been uploaded to the motorols_micom yahoo group. Runs the radoi, but a clunky way to go about it.

That is a very interesting thread. I'll have to keep a watch on it.
