I found your youtube video of the MTR and really want my next radio to be the LNR Mountain Topper.

If I can get PSK3 running on it, the wife will sign off ASAP [4 left :)] because she doesn't want to learn code.

Point me in the direction I should go, please sir.

You can do the same with phone using mike breaks and have the ability to talk in a hurry if needed..

Two breaks means approaching from East.  Then all hell breaks loose... "They broke through the roadblock and have grenades, 100M from base!"

Try tapping not that out under stress ;)

Morse Code / My CW journey

You have all numbers and letters but can't copy?  Something doesn't sound right about that.
I wish I could get all letters in 3 weeks, it's been months on my end but I'm not at it EVERY day like I know I need to be.

Gil's suggestion of the iPhone app HAM MORSE is a good one. It makes you write out the code as opposed to just ID ing

We've got 13 egg layers that are 2yrs plus.  While they have slowed down a bit, I'm glad to have them now.  I better raise my prices at work :)

Thanks guys... A vertical? I thought that was a bad thing?

In my country I can probably always find a tree to use for a sloper or vertical? But not always to setup an elevated horiz so I thought a pole might be a good idea but would rather not have it.

Maybe I could stop asking R so many questions (thanks for being Patient with the newb) if I had a good antenna book.

I thought about getting the ARRL one.  Is there a really good one out there that explains theory and application better?

OK, after a little more homework and finding a review of the ezMil against the LNR at eHam forums (LNR was better every time he tested ) I'm set on the LNR trail 40/20/10 and getting a 31ft fiber pole

Question:
Inverted L
Sloper
Or straight elevated

How much efficiency of any do you loose between them?

The sloper is obviously the easiest to setup but am I loosing a lot compared to an inverted L?

Also will putting the feed point at the bottom of the pole and running the antenna up then sloped down give worse result?

Survival Tech Nord is on the right path with android tablets I believe, I'm building my system as an almost direct mirror of his.

I guess they are getting pretty cheap these days.  I figure by the time I need to patrol my property/community in WROL I will need LP/OPs also.

What's the effective range of video from a drone without a data cellphone system in place?

Drones won't be an issue in a grid down or economic collapse IMO.   In a matter of weeks people will be struggling for food and power (solar / alt) and having to go nomad or hunker down.

Either way, playing with a drone, even to find a target to raid seems low on their priority list IMO.

People are too connected to the grid and few will be able to adapt with it down, let alone function on a high level that includes running drone surveillance.

I could be all wet, but I don't see it as an issue.
