Title: HF Mobile
Post by: Mark Jackson on December 21, 2013, 11:32:15 PM
Is anyone using a Breedlove Stake Mount  model #102 for their HF mobile antenna?
I have a 392m multi band coil from TRX Comm I would like to mount on my pickup. To use or not use a spring due to the height of the whip is in question

Not sure which one is the 102 but i have this one for my Tundra:

I have an ATAS-120 and a 2m/70cm that i interchange regualry on it. Mount works great. I actually put the mount in the rear pocket to have some clearance away from the cab.

Thanks for sharing.

I now have the mount installed and I am very pleased. That thing is solid. I put a 392m coil with 10m ham stick on top. I'm running an IC-706 and a MFJ-945e. I'm hope to take the tuner out after I play with  an antenna analyzer and make notes as to what tap goes where. With no spring, the whip tops out at 13' 2 1/2". I've been knocking the ice and snow out of the trees.

Madball13, I usually monitor 7.285 (MIDCARS) during the day time. I'm in and out of the shack or vehicle but the rig is on most of the time. Suggest a time and freq and we will give it a try.

Mark, I'm curious what bands can you tune up with that coil and whip?

It has contentious coverage from 3-30 MHz (75-10 mtr). Ham Radio Nation kg4fet did a real good write up about it.
