With the availability of "Lego Block" antennas like the Chameleon MPAS or portable magnetic loop antennas covering 10M to 80M, I was wondering if the Buddipole antennas are now obsolete? Who really want to spent more time tuning an antenna than actually transmitting with it?

I see a lot of Buddipole antennas for sale everyone online!

I used to have a Buddistick.. Tried the MPAS these last three weeks. I do not think the Buddipole is obsolete at all. You will get more oomph from a resonant antenna. Indeed what I liked with the Chameleon is how fast you get it set up. It works awesomely with the 60' wire. The Buddistick, I used once for a QSO with Ray (820 miles) on 30m using 2W. The antenna was inside the house clamped to my coffee table! The Hybrid Micro with whip might or might not have worked as well, probably not.. You have to retune the Buddistick every time you change bands though, and the Chameleon is more rugged. So in the end, it really depends on your application..
