Title: Installed Mobile Radio
Post by: KC3AOL on July 28, 2014, 08:10:37 PM
I finally installed my Icom ID-880H in the car this weekend...mostly. The radio doesn't come with the faceplate separation cable, so I had to order one. It should be here tomorrow. Unfortunately, I paid $20 for it when it turns out to just be a standard RJ12 cable that can be had for a buck or two on Amazon.

Still need to finish building the MTR and learn Morse so I can use it ;-)

Do you get a great audio report on digital but horrid audio on UHF & VHF?

The 880 is fine but the 880H is terrible. Icom really dropped the ball on this one.

I actually haven't used the digital capabilities yet.  Analog seems to work just fine though.

But I didn't think there was an ID-880 (without the H).  Did you mean the ID-800H?

Correct.  The first model had no H.
