Bonjour :-)

1. I never had a problem doing so.
2. I'd say no. I do it all the time.
3. Depends what you call a shelter. A tent, generally no. In some places it is possible but between 7pm and 7am, and the tent must not be too tall, I think 1.2m max. Not sure though, search for other sources.
4. I do it all the time.
5. No problem.

I operate portable with my friends pretty much every other week-end and do exactly what you describe. I never had an issue. We have been "checked out" by the gendarmes a few times, as well as national park police. They just wanted to know what we were doing and were even somewhat interested... Mostly wanted to know if we could listen to their radios, LOL.. We were kicked out once off a site, abusively... Since then I carry park rules with me, on paper, to show them there are no restrictions about radio. The only thing they don't like is drones and 4WDs in many areas. We never had to deal with municipal or national police, but I suspect they would be more trouble. The gendarmes are very professional (military). Usually we don't see any uniforms...

Where are you going in France?

Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can help me here. I'm visiting France and hope to do some DXing and general CB activity while on the move hiking etc.

I have some questions I can't find the answers to.

1. In a forest or in the mountains is it allowed by French law or forest code to erect a mobile antenna mast made out of fibre glass etc? (Or anywhere else like by the side of the road)
2. Is putting out folding table and chairs and setting up a tarpaulin to keep the rain off equipment considered to be "setting up a camp"?
3. Is it allowed to set up folding chairs and a table, a shelter and CB equipment in a public or private forest in the mountains.
4. Is it permitted to throw a string over a tree branch in a public or private forest for the purpose of raising a wire antenna?
5. Is it OK to set up a full size CB radio while mobile (outside a vehicule or home) or must it be a heldheld receiver type.

Really appreciate answers from any French radio guys.

Fascinating! And the fact that the same functionality, and them some, today fits in the palm of the hand..

I just answered in my previous comment. Unfortunately I don't know any more than that. Good news, now it's free...

Hi Gil, I recently found you on Youtube. I like your videos, especially the one yesterday about the granges. I have recently got my UK license back and now live in France Dans le Gers (32) how can I convert that license to a French one. My french is not that good but I can get by, Today I took receipt of my new radio gear IC7300 & IC9700, still need antenna's, but can't wait to get back on the air waves. it has been 40 years since I was last transmitting, I have a FULL UK license, Is there some where I can go to find out about a reciprocal license in France.

Hello. Keep it, there has to be a way... Also, most anti virus software will raise an alarm on anything that isn't "standard" and certainly binary files like firmware updates. That doesn't mean there is malware in there... Just verify that you are on the correct site and re-run your anti-virus after the update. Heat could cause that problem. I don't think it would be a physical issue, except if the radio case was squished somehow and presses somewhere causing trouble, but that is unlikely.
If I was you I would try the Chinese firmware update file and cross my fingers...

This question was recently inserted into the QRZ forum in the hope that someone may have a possible answer?
To date, there has not been one single reply?
This was the question:

I have an anytone 778UV mobile radio. This summer the heat in my car may have corrupted the firmware? The radio, flips screen, when talking the PTT button turns the power on to full from low? It is doing a lot of strange things? I have factory reset it, I have the cosher anytone programming cable which it came with and able to programme okay with Chirp?
I believe the Firmware may have been corrupted? I have looked on the net and cannot find any details or information about re installing the firmware? When I go on Anytone's website Malwarebytes warns me not to proceed due to suspicious activity and Trojans on the site (trust the chinese NOT!!!)
Does anyone know if it is possible to reinstall the firmware?

Do I simply right this one off and chuck the ***** in the rubbish bin or hope there is an answer?

Living in hope!

I have seen the other video of this where with a amplifier it can do 25 watts. I hope they make more of this and have it become a build and add on so each radio is unique as it were.
