Hello,

This week-end I will be doing a Morse-code demo at the local club open-doors day at the Red Cross! I'll post the frequency I'll be operating on, here, on Saturday.

The following week-end I hope to go camping again for three nights, same place as last April. I can't believe it's been a year already! Last month the Gyrocopter camping trip was a bust as far as radio was concerned. My Buddistick was between two metal hangars at ground level and it was raining! No contacts.. I didn't try much either. I'll post frequencies and times here as well. Hopefully I'll hear some of you guys on the air! CW of course 8) Reminds me, I better order some wire for a 30m end-fed.. I broke my last one. I'll have my MTR and a Rock-Mite as backup, 40 or 30m.

Stay tuned ;)

Gil.

If I'm around at the times you post I'll definitely give it a try.

I'm hearing you now at about 229, very weak. You obviously aren't hearing my reply.

I heard Gil very weak, once.  Also heard KK0G hand back with a KN.  KK0G was solid copy.  Lots of QRM right now.

I looked at the propagation prediction map at it's showing that 20 meters from FL to IA just ain't gonna happen right now......... which is pretty obvious. I don't suppose you're set up for 30 meters? The map is showing that it might work.

Well somehow we made it work, LOTS of QSB but we managed to exchange reports of 339 each way and Gil reported that he was using his Weber MTR. That my friends is a successful two way QRP contact. 8)

Well that was hard work.  Gil was way way down in the noise, but by pressing my headphones to my head I could get 70% copy until some loud digital QRM stomped all over him.  After that he faded.  I was running 50W so I think he heard my "sri qrm qrm", rst and 73, but I couldn't copy more than 25% of him through all that.  A good try though!

Hi guys, great! I could hear you Chris, but hard to copy. I might have heard you Bob, but not your call sign. Now back on 14060 for a bit longer.. Still on the same small 650mAh lipo!

Hello,

Well, it was an interesting day. I demonstrated CW and the MTR at the Local Red Cross building for the radio club open-doors day. While a few other members knew Morse code, none had ever seen a radio as small as the MTR and were amazed at what it could do. The other CW guys were not QRP people and were also surprised at how little power it took to make contact. I didn't try veru hard to make QSOs mind you and ended up with eleven confirmed QSOs and a few mis-heard call signs. One contact was to England. The other guy was running 2W! QRP-to-QRP to Europe! Of course I heard Chris and that was also a QRP-to-QRP contact of more than a thousand miles. I was also heard by reverse-beacon stations in Canada, Belgium and Germany. It takes a clean signal to be decoded by software..

A couple people mentioned wanting to lean code now...

Another good day for QRP CW field operations :)

Very cool Gil, sounds like you had a great time and may have hooked a couple of QRP converts.

Although I do it quite often, it still never ceases to amaze me that with such a tiny, simple rig with less power than most flashlights, and a chunk of wire tossed in a tree, we can reliably communicate around the world. QRP rocks! ;D
