Anyone ever dealt with CW Academy?

http://www.cwops.org/cwacademy.html

I signed up and looking forward to starting. cockpitbob convinced me to buy a kit to build a pico keyer and now i just need a set of paddles. Anyone of a suggestion of a set of paddles that are somewhat portable and not too pricey, say ~$60 give or take?

Hello,

Yes, I have taken two classes from CWOps, very helpful, and you can find buddies to practice with that way...

For a paddle, I would suggest the Vibroplex Code Warrior Jr. Around $100, but a better investment IMHO.

Gil.

Thanks Gill. I'll take a look.

Just looked at their website, and thought that could help my CW journey, till I saw this...

"All CW Academy classes for the  September-October 2015  sessions are now filled.
All signups received now will be assigned to the  January-February 2016  sessions."

WOW!  Kudos to them for managing to generate that level of interest.

Hey madball, you've shamed/inspired/convinced me to get serious about my CW too.  Have started my own thread, but will be following your journey with interest.  :)

Thanks Bill. Now the pressure is on. I don't want to let you down  ;)

I just finished the CW Academy Level 1 course two weeks ago.

It was an 8 week course and we met twice a week via Skype. It was outstanding! The classes do fill up quickly so get your name on the list now... it's definitely worth the wait and you'll be glad you did. Their training program really is that good!

I'm going to spend the next 5-6 months developing my CW skills and take their Level II course. Can't wait actually, the instruction was excellent and loads of fun.

Just do it!   :D

I have been doing Gordon Wests 0-5 Cd's and with some success. I devote a minimum of 20 minutes a day to just sit and listen. He has a nice way of introducing new letters, copying words and doing random runs at different speed, tones and with background noise. So far the dit and dahs seem to be clicking as a letter in my head.

I plan to stick this out till the end and take the CW academy next year if i need to.

Gil,
Picked up a code warrior junior and i like it a lot. Thanks for the suggestion.

looks like I got bumped up in the September/October session of CW academy and have officially started the Koch method.

Excellent, I took two classes, which helped me a lot!

so far so good. what really helps is to have and instructor/classthat you meet with on a regular basis.

focus is on learning and sending which is awesome.

I've upgraded my key to a Bencher by-2 and it's made a huge difference

madball13

finished the level one.

overall it was great even though I missed a few classes due to schedule. I have a hard time copying and plan to spend more time with the computer program copying words

Awesome.  Learning CW really is a commitment, but its something that rich guy with the contest station is jealous of cuz he can't just buy it.  It's earned.
